Chez Amanda, il y a toujours du monde. Beaucoup de monde. Le jour de notre arrivée chez elle, nous étions 9, et le lendemain, 10. Il y a quatre colocataires : Samantha, une pétillante blonde qui vient du Texas; Julian, un allemand qui aime écouter Helmut Friz, Jamie, écossais passionné de vans, et Amanda, authentique kiwi qui a fait un tour d'Europe à 17 ans. Il y a aussi Benjamin James Franklin, un cochon d'Inde surexcité, et Saint Anger, un poulet neurathénique, qui aime passer ses soirées sur une chaise dans le salon près de la cheminée. Il y a également beaucoup de couchsurfers qui vont, qui viennent, qui, c'est sûre, reviendront. Nous sommes restés une semaine chez eux, et entre-temps, nous avons pu connaitre Samuel, un français qui fait un tour de monde en stop, Ana & Agneska, 2 allemandes qui ont passé les 4 derniers mois à visiter la Nouvelle Zélande, et Greg, un écossais tout fraichement arrivé de Thaïlande.

At Amandas there are always some people. A lot of people. The day we arrived, we were 9, and the next day, 10. There is 4 flatmates : Samantha, a super-funny-super-happy texas girl, Julian , an Helmut Fritz - lover from Germany; Jamie, scottish in love with vans; and Amanda, authentique kiwi who made a Europe tour at the tender age of 17. There is as well Benjamin James Franklin, a guinea pig over excited, and Saint Anger, a neurasthenique chicken that loves sleeping on a chair near the fireplace. There is always a lot of coushsurfers who go, come, and for sure will come back. We stayed here for one week, and we had the chance to meet Samuel, a frenchy who was doing a tour of the east of the world, Ana & Agneska, 2 german girl who spent the 4 previous months camping in New Zealand, and Greg, a scottish freshly arrived from Thailand. 


 





Chez Amanda, c'est comme revenir dans sa maison d'enfance à la campagne. Tout le monde est le bienvenu, et tout le monde aide un peu à sa façon. JB a aidé à construire un château en bambous pour Benjamin. J. Franklin. Julian nous a aidé à préparer le dîner. Samantha a apprit à faire des crêpes. Jamie nous a conseillé dans notre achat de vans. Amanda nous a prêté sa voiture (que nous avons perdu pendant deux heure, car la fourrière nous l'a emporté). Jamie et Julian nous ont emmené faire de l'escalade. On a gagné le 2ème prix d'un quizz de culture générale. Toute la maison nous a accueillit à bras ouverts en nous disant que nous pouvions rester ici autant que nous le souhaitions.

At Amanda's, it's abit like coming back in its old family countryside house. Everybody is welcome, and everybody helps everybody. JB helped to build a brand new bamboo-made castle for Benjamin J. Franklin. Julian helped us to cook diner. Samantha helped us to make crepes. Jamie advised us before buying our van. Amanda leanded us her car (that we lost for 2 hours because it was hiden in the ... pound). Jamie and Julian took us to climbing.  We won the second price of a quizz night. All the gang welcomed us with open arms.    










 
Le dernier soir, on a mangé un Hangi, c'est des légumes et de la viande que l'on met dans un linge, et que les hommes (interdit aux filles!) enterrent avec des cendres chaudes et des pierres volcaniques. Le Hangi a cuit pendant 5 heures, et lorsque Jamie l'a déterré, on a commencé à gouter le plat au milieu du jardin et c'était si bon qu'on a pas pu aller plus loin : Jamie l'a posé par terre, et on s'est juste naturellement assis autours en discutant. Tout avait un petit gout de fumée, de terre, c'était hyper bon.

The last day, we ate a Hangi, it is some vegetables and some meat that you roll in a sheet, then the mens ( not the ladies!) bury it in the earth with hot ashes and volcanic stones. The Hangi cooked for 5 hours, and when Jamie digged it up, we all started taste it in the middle of the garden, and it was so good we couldn't go any further : Jamie just let it down, and we all naturally seated around, joking and chating. All had a little smoky and earthy taste, it was delicious. We couldn' dream about an other way to spend our last evening here.
